Maintenance and Creation of Water Harvesting Structures
Objectives
- ✴To improve dry lands by harvesting the rainwater and increase the groundwater level, maintenance works like removing plants, shrubs etc., in the existing rainwater harvesting structures created by TAWDEVA and creating new rainwater harvesting structures like community ponds by using Agricultural Engineering Department Machinery.

- ✴ Watershed Development Fund (WDF) of Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TAWDEVA).
Project Area
- ✴ All Districts (Except Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Kanniyakumari ,The Nilgiris and Chennai)
Details of Works
- ✴ Maintenance of Water harvesting Structures created by Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TAWDEVA) and creating of new rainwater harvesting structures like community ponds using Agricultural Engineering Department owned machinery.
Eligibility
- ✴ Water harvesting structures created by Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TAWDEVA) under Drought Prone Areas Programme (DPAP), Integrated Watershed Development Programme (IWDP) and Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP).
- ✴ The structures identified by the District level committee and approved by District Collector are to be taken up for maintenance in that financial year.
- ✴ Poramboke land for creation of new rainwater harvesting structures.
